Ohio's Tax Amnesty Program

The State of Ohio has announced a limited-time tax amnesty program. This program, which runs January 1st through February 15, 2018, allows delinquent

taxpayers the opportunity to pay qualifying unreported or under-reported taxes. Qualifying taxes include due and payable amounts as of May 1, 2017. As such, the Ohio Department of Taxation is authorized to forgive 100% of any penalties and half of the interest that typically would be assessed on these tax liabilities.


The amnesty program includes the following Ohio taxes:

  • Use Tax

  • Sales Tax

  • Commercial Activity Taxes

  • Employer Withholding Tax

  • Employer Withholding for School District Income Tax

  • Individual Income Tax

  • School District Income Tax

  • Pass-through Entity Tax

  • Financial Institutions Tax

  • Cigarette and other tobacco products Taxes

  • Alcohol Beverage Taxes

Ohio Tax Amnesty WILL save you money. The last amnesty program in Ohio was in 2012. With no certainty of any future programs, take advantage of this opportunity before it is gone.
